Coming soon: Childhood Influenza Advanced Service Pilot Report

Data for the Childhood Influenza Advanced Service Report is soon to be published on the NHSBSA Open Data Portal (ODP). This publication supports improved transparency, accessibility and consistency of NHSBSA data publications.

What will be published?

This publication contains monthly information on the number of flu vaccinations administered by community pharmacy contractors under the Community Pharmacy Seasonal Childhood Influenza Vaccination Advanced Service Pilot.

The community pharmacy childhood flu vaccination advanced service pilot has been available since October 2025, providing improved access to seasonal influenza vaccinations for children who were 2 or 3 years old on 31 August 2025. Children who had turned 4 by this date are excluded.

Why is it being published?

Seasonal influenza is a key factor affecting NHS resilience. It impacts individuals who become unwell, puts pressure on NHS services and affects the wider health and social care system.

Publishing this data on the ODP helps to:

•           Improve transparency of NHSBSA reporting

•           Support NHS planning and public health monitoring

•           Enable researchers, policy makers and the public to access and analyse childhood vaccination activity

What data will be included?

The report provides the latest available data for the current flu season and includes:

•           England-level data

•           NHS Region

•           NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)

•           Pharmacy details

•           Vaccine name

•           AMPP SNOMED code

•           BNF Presentation code

•           Manufacturer

•           Quantity

•           Drug costs

•           Fee costs

The Dataset is updated monthly from October 2025.

Note on the Community Pharmacy Adult Seasonal Flu Vaccination Service

For broader context on community pharmacy involvement in national flu vaccination, a separate Community Pharmacy Adult Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Service also operates alongside the childhood service. While reported independently, both services contribute to NHS efforts to reduce flu transmission and protect vulnerable groups.
