Thank you for your request for information about the following:
Request
‘5 - when you last audited your systems for sending letters
6 - what that audit showed about accuracy in the letters' contents
7 - what that audit showed about success rates in posting the letters as intended
8 - how many letters you sent by post in 2023 and 2024
9 - how many letters you had returned in 2023 and 2024 as 'not known at this address' or similar
10 - if you have checked in any way rates of receipt of your letters, if so the results of those checks
11 - if there was no audit, what discussions and decisions (governance) took place about possible non-receipt of McCloud letters, records of meetings or remembrance of your staff involved.’
The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) received your request on 13 May 2025.
We have handled your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
Our response
Your request was a continuation of a previous request, FOI-02786 (https://opendata.nhsbsa.net/dataset/foi-02786), relating to McCloud eligibility.
I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, as per our previous response, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHSBSA.
The NHSBSA have not written to members to directly inform them of their McCloud eligibility.
In 2024 a letter was sent to members regarding changes to the NHS Pension Scheme, including information on McCloud eligibility. While this letter wasn’t a confirmation of eligibility, it did summarise eligibility more generally and next steps. The letter also included a link to our website, which provides information an NHS Pension Scheme member could use to determine whether or not they may be affected:

This letter was sent to active and deferred members.
