-
The amount of compensation paid out in past three years broken down by type and amount in relation to covid vaccines?’
Response
Number of complaints/Compensation
Please note that claims to the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) are not classed as complaints and, in addition, they are not claims for compensation. Rather, they are claims for payment in relation to vaccine injuries.
Therefore the information relating to complaints and compensation is not held by the NHS Business Services Authority.
The figures provided below were correct as of 20 May 2022, and relate to the number of claims for payment under the scheme.
Question 1
There have been 1681 claims relating to COVID-19 vaccinations.
Question 2
There have been 121 claims registered where claimant is not the vaccinated person, and a date of death has been recorded for the vaccinated person.
Question 3
The COVID-19 vaccines are very new and the global effort to establish any potential causal relationship between the vaccines and their potential adverse effects is not straightforward and has taken time. Claims relating to COVID-19 vaccines have not yet been medically assessed, therefore there have been no payments made to date.
