‘I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act:-
How many £100k interim payments have been made by EIBSS in relation to the Infected Blood Inquiry.
How many of these payments were made directly to infected people and how many were made to affected spouses.
How many of these payments were Hepatitis C related and of those how many were stage 1 and how many were stage 2.
How many of those who received payment also received the original £20k payment from the Skipton Fund (or other AHO schemes) in 2004.’
Your request was received on 7 September 2023 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Question 1
There have been 3,556 payments made.
Question 2
2,796 of the payments were made to infected beneficiaries.
733 of the payments were made to bereaved partners.
27 of the payments were made to infected beneficiaries who are also a bereaved partner.
Question 3
Please note, the numbers below also include those co-infected with Hepatitis C and HIV.
3,414 of the payments were Hepatitis C related.
Of those, 1,702 were stage 1 and 1,056 were stage 2.
There were also 656 Special Category Mechanism (SCM) payments.
Beneficiaries can apply for SCM payments if they have Hepatitis C stage 1 and their condition has worsened but is not stage 2.
Question 4
Please note, there was limited data transferred to EIBSS from Skipton (and other AHO schemes) on 1 November 2017.
The data provided to us shows 55 claimants also received this payment, although this data is not verified by EIBSS.
