Request
Could I request for ICBs, Northamptonshire, Somerset, North Cumbria, Cheshire & Merseyside and South Yorkshire (presented individually if possible please):
1. The number of patients who have been prescribed both Fostair pMDI and Luforbec Between September 21 and September 22
2.a The number of patients who have been prescribed both Fostair pMDI and Luforbec between September 21 and March 22.
2.b of those patients from 2.a how many have again been prescribed both in Apr-22 to Sep-22
On 14 February 2023 you clarified the following:
If they could be locked to being counted in the first ICB Or if simpler to group them all as a misc. ICB group?
Response
A copy of the information is attached.
NHS Prescription Services process prescriptions for Pharmacy Contractors, Appliance Contractors, Dispensing Doctors and Personal Administration with information then used to make payments to pharmacists and appliance contractors in England for prescriptions dispensed in primary care settings (other arrangements are in place for making payments to Dispensing Doctors and Personal Administration). This involves processing over 1 billion prescription items and payments totalling over £9 billion each year. The information gathered from this process is then used to provide information on costs and trends in prescribing in England and Wales to over 25,000 registered NHS and Department of Health and Social Care users.
Data Source
The data source was the NHSBSA Information Services Data Warehouse.

The Data excludes:
• Items not dispensed, disallowed and those returned to the contractor for further clarification.

The majority of such items are dressings and appliances which NHS Prescription Services has classified into four pseudo BNF chapters (20 to 23).
Data
The data request has been split into 3 separate csv files:
FOI30957_Q1
This file is the number of patients within the restricted ICBs who have been prescribed both Fostair pMDI and Luforbec between September 21 and September 22 where both drugs have been prescribed within the same ICB
FOI30957_Q2a
This file is the number of patients within the restricted ICBs who have been prescribed both Fostair pMDI and Luforbec between September 21 and March 22 where both drugs have been prescribed within the same ICB
FOI30957_Q2b
The data is calculated by finding patients within the restricted ICBs who have been prescribed both Fostair pMDI and Luforbec between September 21 and March 22 where both drugs have been prescribed within the same ICB. The patient counts show where these patients have also been prescribed both Fostair pMDI and Luforbec between April 22 and September 22 where both drugs have been prescribed within the same ICB, with the ICB being the same for both time periods.
If patients meet the prescribing requirements for more than one ICB within this dataset they will be counted in all those ICBs and therefore patient counts should not be added
