All data is as of 3 October 2022, relating to claims received by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) and those transferred from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 1 November 2021. All figures provided below relate to all vaccinations covered by the scheme.

Questions 1 and 2

The NHSBSA was formally requested by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to add the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) to our portfolio of work from 1 November 2021, so we only hold figures from this date onwards.

The amount of claims we have communicated to be paid totals £3,240,000.

2,743 claims have been received relating to COVID-19 vaccination.

Question 4

510 claims have completed medical assessment.

Question 5

295 claims are currently undergoing medical assessment.

Question 6

24 claimants have been notified they are entitled to a Vaccine Damage Payment.

Question 7

215 claims have been rejected.

Question 8

Reasons for rejection include:

Causation due to vaccination has not been accepted

Causation accepted but disablement due to vaccination less than 60%

Invalid applications not meeting scheme criteria for assessment

Question 9

Conditions that have met the criteria is the scheme to be awarded are:

VITT/Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis

Guillain-Barré syndrome

Vaccine-induced vasculitis

Acute allergic reaction
