Request
‘I would be grateful if you could use the following time period for this request: 1st March 2020 - 1st September 2021.
In regards to the 'NHS and Social Care Coronavirus Life Assurance Scheme 2020', I seek to determine the number of claims submitted in England for healthcare worker deaths under this scheme.
If this is not possible, then I would be grateful if you could provide the total value of claims instead.
For clarity, eligibility criteria for each claim is defined in this document:
https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/nhs-and-social-care-coronavirus-life-assurance-scheme-2020-england/scheme-information-england-claimants
As detailed, I am only interested in the figures relating to NHS England, and not NHS England and Social Care.’
Response
As of the 1 September 2021, we had received 383 NHS claims in England.
