‘Please could you let me know how many Covid-VITT patients have received compensation from the VDPS? I have heard of at least one’
Response
As of 11 August 2022, five claimants with vaccine-induced immune thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (VITT) have been notified their claim has been approved to receive a Vaccine Damage Payment.
Please note that the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) is not a compensation scheme. It provides a one-off tax-free payment, currently £120,000, to successful applicants who, on very rare occasions, are severely disabled as a result of vaccination against a specified disease, within the meaning of the Vaccine Damage Payments Act. It does not prejudice the right of the disabled person to pursue a claim for damages through the courts.
