Response
Please note that we do not hold figures for UK GHIC applications for 2020. UK GHICs were launched in 2021, therefore no applications were received or processed in 2020. The below answers cover 2021 and 2022 to date.
Question 1
2021: 1,342,936 applications, of which 184,346 had to provide evidence of proof of address.
2022 to date: 4,755,606 applications, of which 286,465 had to provide evidence of proof of address.
Question 2
2021: 122,270 applications, of which 23,878 had to provide evidence of proof of address.
2022: 243,675 applications, of which 30,869 had to provide evidence of proof of address.
The number of EU citizens may include EU nationals with dual nationality and a small number of other nationalities.
Question 3
2020: 125,106 applications, of which 23,519 had to provide evidence of proof of address.
2021: 230,737 applications, of which 48,140 had to provide evidence of proof of address.
2022: 153,274 applications, of which 16,473 had to provide evidence of proof of address.
The number of EU citizens may include EU nationals with dual nationality and a small number of other nationalities.
Question 4 and 5
In 2018 and 2019 we did not record whether applicants were required to provide proof of evidence or whether applicants were UK or EU citizens. Therefore, we do not hold information allowing us to provide the requested breakdown.
