pages 125/6 provide tables for the number of consultants, GPs and dental practitioners claiming their NHS Pension on a voluntary early retirement (VER) basis (1995 pension scheme only). With the source given as NHS Business Services Authority.
Please provide the data which underlies these tables in Excel format with a breakdown on a quarterly basis, rather than the annual basis given in the tables, and updated with the latest data to 2021-22 Q4.
Please also provide a link to the page(s) on the NHS BSA website, or elsewhere, where this data is available.
Response
A copy of the information is attached. Please note the following –
• The attached data only represents retirements from the 1995 Section, as per the request to replicate the data in the provided document.
• Members have been counted once; they have been categorised based on their most recent employment and prioritised as a GP in the event of multiple employment types terminating on the same day.
• Period allocated is based on the date NHS Pensions completed the award and issued into payment, it does not necessarily reflect the members retirement date.
• How this data is calculated and collated has been reviewed, which has led to several changes, making the data both more accurate and reliable in the long term.
