Data Source

The data source was the NHSBSA Information Services Data Warehouse. Data was taken from tables in the data warehouse on 7 June 2022 and looking for practices with an inactive date between 2nd April 2021 and 1st April 2022 (meaning the closed date would be from 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022).

Organisation Data

The data provided is for contractors in England only

The contractor_flags: (standard_contracter_flag, distance_selling_flag, and 100_hours_flag) have been assigned based on the values associated to the maximum inactive date which lied between 2nd April 2021 and 1st April 2022.

Our information in this area is limited to when a contract comes to an end, this may not necessarily mean closed by some definitions. The following scenarios will be included and classed as closed in this analysis:

  • A contract closing.

  • A pharmacy premises closing (and there no longer being a pharmacy in that location).

  • A contract closing and another opening in the same location.

  • A company being sold with debts and liabilities to another company (in this case the contract continues with a different company).
