Please could you provide the total number of items prescribed by general dental practitioners and dispensed by community pharmacies between April 2016 and December 2025, separately for each NHS dental contract and each month. If data is not available for each dental practice in each month, please provide any data that you have at the dental contract level with relevant dates. Please do this for all items in the Dental Practitioners Formulary in long format, so that each row of the data contains a column with the year, month, contract number, the location V code, the location postcode, the BNF chemical substance code, BNF presentation, the number of items dispensed in that month and the net ingredients cost in GBP.

I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHSBSA.

Advice and assistance

Prescription data we hold does not include which contract the prescription was prescribed by. In addition, our organisational database does not hold dental practice or dental contract information, which is why we are only able to report dental prescribing at a national level.
