I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds the information you have requested. Please read the notes to ensure correct understanding of the data.

Question 1

The number of unique active doctors who moved to the 2008 scheme as part of Choice 1 exercise is 2,297.

Question 2

The number of unique doctors who cancelled their Choice 1 decision and returned to the 1995 scheme is 0.

Members cannot cancel their decision regarding the Choice 1 exercise.

Question 3

The number of unique doctors who cancelled their Choice 2 decision and returned to the 1995 scheme is 895.

Notes

To be considered a doctor and be in scope for this FOI a member must have at least one active employment with a capacity code of 03 (Medical Doctor). This includes general practitioners.

Members may have other non-medical service historically or concurrently.

Members may have claimed some of their benefits, and be actively contributing in the same or a different scheme.
