I would like to make an FOI request in relation to the sedation contract questions as follows:-

How many UDAs are allocated to the sedation contract?

What is the UDA rate for patients undergoing sedation

Is sedation carried out on patients under 16yrs of age?

What is the total contract value?

When does the current contract end?

On 13 May 2025 you clarified your request with the following:

Could you kindly supply the information requested for all 3 contract numbers and also please state which one(s) are affiliated with the sedation services.

Please supply data for 2024-25 and 2023-24.

I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds the information you have requested and a copy of the information and notes explaining it is attached.

This report contains the details from FP17s processed for the period stated 2024/2025 in the contracts listed. The information within the report includes the data items and descriptions listed below.

Commissioner Code: This is the 3 character code associated with the Commissioning Organisation. This a generic term used to denote health bodies, either Area Teams in England or Health Boards in Wales. Also known as Primary Care Organisations (PCOs).

Commissioner Name: This is the name associated with the Commissioning Organisation. This is a generic term used to denote health bodies, either Area Teams in England or Health Boards in Wales. Also known as Primary Care Organisations (PCOs).

Principal Practice Address: Full Address: This is address of the main address used for correspondence between the NHSBSA and the dental contract, it is not necessarily the address where treatment takes place.

Contract End Date: The end date of the contract, as recorded on CoMPASS (only where an end date has been entered on CoMPASS).

Financial Year: The financial year associated with the 'Year Month' dimension in the format 'YYYY/YYYY' e.g. 2018/2019 for 201804.

UDA Financial Value: The financial value associated with the UDA performance target for the financial year, as entered on CoMPASS by the PCO.

UDA Performance Target: The contracted units of dental activity to be achieved for the year, as entered on CoMPASS by the PCO.

Sedation FP17s: This is a count of the number of forms which included sedation services. This is based on the Treatment Category as recorded in part 6 of the FP17. Sedation is used to help people feel relaxed and comfortable about having certain dental procedures done. Sedation can be given in many ways; the medication can be taken as a drink, breathed in or injected into a vein. Intravenous (IV) sedation, where the medication is injected into a vein, is ideally suited to dental procedures.

Sedation Service Line: The service name/description as maintained by CoMPASS. No Contracts showed any Performance Target under this service line.

Note: No sedations were carried out on any patients under 16 years of age.
