This data is publicly available, published monthly on the NHSBSA website. Under Reports/Pharmacy and appliance contractor dispensing data.

A report detailing monthly information dispensed by Pharmacy and Appliance Contractors in England which includes Advanced Services declared:

The data is available from January 2020.

On the same page is a caveats word document supporting the data.

Question 1

To get the total amount of pharmacies in a month that submitted a Pharmacy First (PF) consultation then the pharmacy will have needed to do at least one of the seven conditions listed – Acute Otitis Media, Acute Sore Throat, Impetigo, Infected Insect Bites, Shingles, Sinusitis or Uncomplicated UTI.

Note this will not show the total amount of pharmacies signed up for PF just those that are signed up and submitted a consultation in that month.

Question 4

Hypertension follows the same logic – a BP check and a follow up, if required, ABPM check get differing fees, so they are split in the presentation of the data. Again, adding them together gets you a total figure of BP checks but does not distinguish as to the type of check. A BP check is a reading on the day whereas an ABPM check is monitoring over 24 hours, so they are quite different procedures although they both measure blood pressure.

Question 9

The appliance use reviews are split into the two constituent parts as the fee for a home review and a review for one done on the premises differs. The two added together get you all appliance use reviews submitted for that month.
