Request
Additionally, I would like to request information under the Freedom of Information Act regarding the administration of fines for NHS dental claims:
1. How many individuals have been fined for NHS dental claims every year for the past four years?
2. How many complaints have been made each year as a result of these fines?
3. How many of these complaints have been upheld?
4. How many additional penalty surcharge fines have been issued every year for the past four years?
Response
I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds the information you have requested and a copy of the information is attached.
The data covers the last 4 calendar years (2021-2024), 2024 calendar year includes data from January -October, November not included.
We're unable to provide the number of individuals have been fined so the data provided covers the number of cases. It is possible that someone may have received multiple PCNs across the data provided.
Not all complaints received in the last 4 years will relate to cases from those years. Volume includes total complaints including all DECS cases.
