Request
Please provide a list of all NHS General Dental Services Contracts terminated by the contract holder, by financial year, 2019/20-2023/24.
For each terminated contract please provide:
- the value of the contract
- the number of UDAs commissioned.
- the postcode of the practice delivering this contract
The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) received your request on 1 October 2024
On 17 October we received the following clarification:
For the contract value, do you require the most recent contract value before the end date? Many of these contracts will have closed during the year and some of these will have been revised to reflect the shorter time span.
Please provide the most recent contract value for the last full financial year before end date.
Would you like UOA’s and sedation/domiciliary to be included in the data as well as UDAs?
Yes.
Response
I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds the information you have requested and a copy of the information is attached.
The report includes information about NHS General Dental Services (GDS) Contracts terminated by the contract holder for Financial Years 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24.
We do not hold data for 2019/20 as the most recent Primary Care Activity Reports we have access to are for 2020/21.
The list of contracts was based upon Primary Care Activity Report (PCAR) returns from Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) that covered financial years 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24.
Contracts were selected where 'Reason For Closure' in the PCAR return was recorded as 'Contractor Termination Notices' by the completing ICB.
TCV (Total Contract Value) UDA Target, UOA Target, SED Target and DOM Target were all pulled from Compass and represent targets and values for the last full financial year of contract activity.
