Request
- How many retirement applications have NHSBSA received in each month from January to and including August 2024? (Please provide a monthly breakdown).
- Please can I have figures for the number of retirement applications NHSBSA received in each month from January to and including August 2023? (please provide a monthly breakdown)
- Of the two questions above, please provide a breakdown showing how many retirement applications were from GPs?
The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) received your request on 13 September 2024.
We have handled your request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000.
Our response
I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds the information you have requested and a copy of the information and notes explaining it is attached.
Please read the below notes to ensure correct understanding of the data.
Members may have submitted multiple applications, across multiple months. For the purpose of this FOI, each member is counted once for each month that an application is received from them.
A GP is defined as anyone with any GP service; they may not have been working in a GP role at the time they submitted a pension application.
The above figures reflect all pension applications received from all members, irrespective of if they are retiring from active service or from deferment; i.e. they may not have been contributing to the pension scheme, or even working in the NHS at the date of application.
