FOI-01980

Thank you for your request for information about the following:

Please could you provide a list and CSV dataset of all Physician Associate vacancies listed between 01/01/2022 - 01/06/2024 covering England & Wales.

Please include similar search expressions (Physicians Associate, Physician's Associate) and detail the following fields: id, reference, title, employer, description, close date, post date, locations (town & postcode), salary, type(fixed/contract) as defined in the NHS Jobs Self-Serve Job Adverts API (or similar).

Your request was received on 2 June 2024 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Response

A copy of the information is attached.

Please be advised that some cells are blank and this is because the NHSBSA does not hold the requested information because When creating a job advert, the recruiter can opt to not input a Fixed Pay or Pay Range value, and instead advertise as 'Depending on Experience' - the Salary field will then not be populated. If the recruiter selects Very Senior Manager (VSM) or Other as the Pay Scheme on an advert (rather than a Band within Agenda for Change or Hospital Medical and Dental Staff), the Pay Band field will then not be populated. A combination of use of these options accounts for the blanks in the data provided, and we can confirm we hold no data in these fields for these records.

Please see the extract of all job adverts published between 01/01/2022 – 01/06/2024 that contained all Physician Associate vacancies (including similar expressions). The post code field confirms the location of the vacancy.

I am writing to advise you that the information you requested reagrding job descriptions is not held by the NHS Business Services Authority. Rather, it is held on behalf of trusts who advertise via NHS Jobs, meaning they are the holders of the information. This is called out in the Terms and Conditions (Ts&Cs) which are in place between NHSBSA and the trusts. See the below excerpt from those Ts&Cs: NHS BSA is the Public Authority responsible for answering FOI Requests about vacancy information, unless the commercial agreement states otherwise.

The Trusts’ are responsible for all requests related to their recruitment process, application progression and outcomes for your organisation. Where this information is held on NHS Jobs, it is held by NHSBSA, on your behalf, for the purposes of freedom of information legislation. The application form completed by a candidate is held on NHS Jobs for 13 months. That information is held on behalf of the recruiting organisation. For the purposes of FOI the public authority responsible for that information and answering your request is the recruiting organisation.

The recruiting organisation may then have downloaded the applications from NHS Jobs into their own recruitment systems. NHS Jobs would not hold any information on which applications had been shortlisted, interview notes, comments etc.

Please see below the relevant sections of the Terms and Conditions we have with recruiting organisations.

You will need to make a FOI request to each of the recruiting organisations you have applied for.
