Request
I have 3 questions for which I seek your assistance. I would like to receive the following information:
1. How many claims have been made to both the VDPU and the DWP for alleged damage from the MMR11 vaccines in England over the period 14th May 1987 to 23rd November 2023?
2. How many of the above referenced claims have resulted in a payment to those affected over the above referenced period?
3. The UK Govt has published an MMR Vaccine Analysis Print (VAP) with a report run 23/11/2023. (See assets.publishing.service.gov.uk http://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/ ) This lists all the adverse reactions reported for the MMR vaccine.
3.1 Are all the above reactions for the MMR vaccine, or the MMR11 vaccine - or a combination of both?
3.2 Are all the vaccines reactions reported against the MMR11 vaccine produced by the company Merck (possibly distributed in the England by Pasteur Merieux) ?
3.3 If the statistics include MMR vaccines produced by other companies (please provide names of suppliers) is it possible to receive a separate print out for all adverse reactions reported solely for the MMR11 vaccine from the manufacturer Merck?
Date Range: 14th May 1987 to 23rd November 2023
Response
I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds some of the information you have requested and a copy of the information and notes explaining it is attached.
Question 1
The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) took over the administration of the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 1 November 2021.
8 claims have been received by the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) since 1 November 2021.
The DWP did not record the vaccine type against each claim. Therefore information prior to 1 November 2021 is not held by the NHSBSA as it was not transferred to us from the VDPU/DWP.
