FOI-01752

Thank you for your request for information about the following:

In early 2023, nhsbsa temporarily suspended the processing of NHS Pension CETV calculations. In the July 2023 NHS Pensions Update, it was confirmed that processing of CETV applications had recommenced with confirmation that outstanding cases would be completed by 18 August 2023.

Please provide the date in 2023 following which all new NHS CETV applications were being processed within the stipulated time periods of 3 months or 6 weeks if a fee was paid.

Please provide the date in 2023 following which all new CETVs for Divorce Purposes were being processed within the stipulated time periods of 3 months or 6 weeks if a fee was paid.

Your request was received on 18th February 2024 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Response

We do not hold the exact date on which all new NHS CETV applications and CETVs for divorce purposes are processed, only the month they were processed. However, we have provided general information on our processing times below.

In August 2023, NHS Pensions processed all but one new NHS Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) application within three months. We are not currently able to process CETVs within three months due to the volume of requests and complexity of calculations. We have not received any requests where a fee was paid to fast track a new CETV application since July 2023. All transfer out payments have been made on time since October 2023.

All new fast track CETVs for Divorce Purposes were processed within six weeks in October 2023 with the payment of a fee. We are not currently able to process all new fast track CETVs for Divorce Purposes within 6 weeks. However, these numbers are in single figures. Members for whom we do not meet the 6-week deadline will be reimbursed the fee that was paid. We are not currently able to process all new CETV’s for Divorce Purposes within 3 months, again due to the volume of requests and complexity of calculations.

The data provided in this FOI response counts all members who have submitted CETV applications including those working in clinical and non-clinical roles.
