Request
Clause10 of Statutory Instrument 1973 No242 calls for an actuarial report and investigation by the Government Actuary every 5 years from 1969. As I was invited to apply for a refund of my pension contributions after June 1974 I would be interested to know what was detailed in the report concerning the refunding of pension contributions. (Probably within the conclusion)
Response
I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHS Business Services Authority.
The statutory instrument in question required the Government Actuary to submit the report referred to in Statutory Instrument 1973 No 242 to the Secretary of State and the Minister of the Civil Service. It reduced the report and actuarial investigation requirements from every 7 years to every 5 years with effect from 1 October 1972. These regulations have been revoked.
The reference to the Secretary of State will the one for what is now known as the Department of Health and Social Care and the Minister of the Civil Service will be the Cabinet Office, so the report in question would have been submitted to these parties.
It is possible that the Department of Health and Social Care may hold some or all of the information you require. They can be contacted at:
