The purpose of my request is to inquire whether you might have any publicly available data about claims made to the Vaccine Damage Payments Scheme.
Total number of claims and awards:
1. Could you confirm how many claims have been made to the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme to date and the numbers of awards made ? (See the response you made to an earlier FOI request so that this can be updated - FOI 2141 Response dated 31 May 2017).
2. Would it be possible to give a breakdown of claims by vaccine?
3. Can you also given an updated tabular breakdown of the number of claims that have been unsuccessful and the reasons for which they were disallowed (See also FOI 2141, 31 May 2017).

7. How many of the appeals were ultimately upheld, reversed or withdrawn (or outstanding).

Question 7. No, this request refers to all vaccines. Wld it be posisble to provide data from the start of the scheme (1979).
Response
All data as of 23 January 2024. All data relates to claims received by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) and those transferred from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 1 November 2021.
Question 1
15,988 claims have been received by the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) since its inception in 1979..
1,111 claimants have been notified that they are entitled to a Vaccine Damage Payment.
Question 2
I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested on claims for a Vaccine Damage Payment broken down by vaccine which were received and concluded before 1 November 2021 is not held by the NHSBSA.
9,501 claims have been received by the NHSBSA. We have received 9,032 Covid-19 vaccine claims, 85 adult flu vaccine claims and 384 claims for other eligible vaccines.

Question 4
We have received 9,032 Covid-19 claims. Of these claims, 163 claimants have been notified they are entitled to a Vaccine Damage Payment.
