Thank you for your request for information about the following:
The total number of recorded tooth extractions carried out on adults and children (under 18) by dentists in England and Wales for the most recent year you hold data for, and for five years and ten years prior to that year.
This should yield six figures, two for each year - one for adults and one for children. So for example, if the most recent complete year you hold data for is 2022, then the request would be for the total number of tooth extractions in England and Wales in 2022, 2017 and 2012, for both adults and children.
By 'tooth extractions' I mean the number of people who have had teeth extracted. So a person who has had more than one tooth extracted would count as a single tooth extraction.
However, if you also have totals for the total number of teeth extracted in any given year then I would like that information too.
Your request was received on 6 November and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
