FOI-01276

Thank you for your request for information about the following:

  • The amount of people that have received vaccine damage payouts for the Sars cov2 (covid 19 ) vaccines

  • How many people have submitted claims and have been rejected

  • How many people have submitted claims which are currently pending.

Your request was received on 4th July and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Response

Please read the below notes to ensure correct understanding of the data.

All data as of 11 July 2023.

All data relates to claims received by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) and those transferred from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 1 November 2021.

All figures provided below relate to COVID-19 vaccines.

  • 127 claimants have been notified they are entitled to a Vaccine Damage Payment.

  • 2,225 claims were rejected after being reviewed by an independent medical assessor. A further 146 did not meet the criteria for medical assessment.

  • 3,894 claims have not yet reached an outcome.

As part of the process of the scheme, we need a full set of medical records for each claimant, and it can take time for the claimant’s healthcare providers to gather and securely supply copies of these records.

Once sent for assessment, the time it takes for the independent medical assessor to review a claim can vary from case to case depending on the individual circumstances of each claim.
