Change Log – English Prescribing Dataset (EPD) with SNOMED Code #2

Change from STP to ICB
In the May 2022 EPD with Snomed code release the STP Name and STP code columns have been replaced with Integrated Care Board (ICB) and ICB code columns. CCG’s (Clinical Commissioning Groups) will be renamed as SICBL’s (Sub Integrated Care Board Locations) within the PCO Name Column, for example, KIRKLEES CCG will be changing to NHS WEST YORKSHIRE ICB X2C4Y.
This is to reflect the new NHS organisational structure - details can be found at the NHS Digital’s Integrated Care Board page.

Changes to Actual Cost reporting calculation (Pharmacy only)
We've updated our prescription data reports to reflect the recent changes to the discount deduction applied to pharmacy contractors monthly total of reimbursement prices, listed in the Drug Tariff Part V.
For data from April 2024 (published in June) any financial report referencing actual cost includes discounts calculated according to the new methodology. You can find more details in this article: Changes to Actual Cost reporting calculation (Pharmacy only)
December 2025 - Automated upload schema updated to ensure QUANTITY, ITEMS, TOTAL_QUANTITY, ADQ_USAGE, NIC and ACTUAL_COST are number type.

Final Publication of EPD Without SNOMED CT Codes – August 2025
The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) has now published the final version of the English Prescribing Dataset (EPD) without Systematised Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT) codes.
From September 2025 onwards, only the version of the EPD containing SNOMED CT codes will continue to be published.
This discussion will contain a log of changes that have been made to the dataset. With the most current notice is also being promoted on the dataset description page.
