Coming soon: Pharmacy Quality Scheme 2023/2024 data on the Open Data Portal

December 10, 2024

The NHSBSA data services team are using the open data portal to publish the latest 2023/24 Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) data.

The dataset is scheduled to be released by the end of December.

What will be published?

Part of the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF), the PQS aims to support the delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan by rewarding community pharmacies for meeting quality criteria in three key areas:

  • Clinical effectiveness
  • Patient safety
  • Patient experience
  • The PQS for 2023/24 comprises three quality domains:

  • Medicines Safety and Optimisation
  • Prevention
  • Respiratory
  • The datasets soon to be published relate to these quality domains. Each dataset includes a list of pharmacies eligible for a PQS payment on 1 April 2024. Eligibility is based on pharmacies meeting the gateway criteria and the requirements of at least one quality domain.

The data release will also provide each pharmacy’s answers to the declaration questions as they were entered into the Manage Your Service (MYS) platform.

    Why it will be published?

Providing valuable insights into the PQS, the data will be of interest to a wide range of audiences, including Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), pharmacy contractors, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), media outlets, and anyone interested in the data submitted by pharmacies.

By publishing the data on the Open Data Portal, we are also simplifying the process for analysing and reporting on the PQS - removing the need for stakeholders to request the data from the NHS Business Services Authority individually. Resulting in faster and more efficient access to the information.
