Important: Coming Soon: New Dataset for Finalised Secondary Care Medicine Data (SCMD) with Indicative Pricing

We are improving how Secondary Care Medicine Data (SCMD) is published to improve clarity, accessibility, and transparency for users. Currently, provisional SCMD is published monthly, with finalised figures replacing them annually. However, this approach presents several challenges:

  • A lack of clarity around the timing and availability of finalised data. 
  • The inability to compare provisional and finalised figures, as the latter overwrite the former.
  • Recent technical difficulties have further delayed the release of finalised data.

Proposed Changes

To address these challenges and mitigate future issues, we are introducing a new, separate dataset dedicated to Finalised SCMD with Indicative Pricing. This initiative will:

  • Clearly separate provisional and finalised datasets for improved transparency. 
  • Allow users to track changes and updates to finalised data more effectively. 
  • Enable comparative analysis of provisional and finalised data over time. 
  • Introduce subscription options, so users receive timely notifications on data releases and revisions.

Implementation Timeline

The timeline for launching this dataset is currently under development, and further updates will be provided once confirmed.
