Thank you for your request for information about the following:

Request

You asked us:

I have previously requested data on domiciliary dental care (FOI Request Final Response FOI-02615). I am seeking the same data up to and including the NHS financial year 24/25 and 25/26.

I previously sought a breakdown of data held on domiciliary NHS dental care delivered in i) England and ii) Wales from 2016/17 to 2023/24

Please provide total for i) delivered Domiciliary FP17s and ii) Contracted Domiciliary Visits for each nation.

For England please also provide a breakdown on both metrics to ICB levels for the years stated.

Please update for last 2 financial years for the same geographies.

The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) received your request on 1 April 2026

We have handled your request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000.

Our response

I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds the information you have requested and a copy of the information is attached.

Please read the below notes to ensure correct understanding of the data.

This report contains the details from General FP17s processed for the reporting years 2024/2025 & 2025/2026 (April 2025 - March 2026) in England & Wales. Excludes Prison Contracts. Includes Foundation Dentists. The information within the report includes the data items and descriptions listed below.

Data based on year-end methodology.

Year-end methodology will include all activity data (including amendments) collected from FP17s scheduled in any of the fifteen schedule months from April to June, where the date of completion is on or between 1 April and 31 March of the year. For example, 2018-2019 will include all activity data (including amendments) collected from FP17s scheduled in any of the fifteen schedule months from April 2018 - June 2019, where the date of completion is on or between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019. Where FP17s do not have a date of completion, e.g. where the patient has failed to return to complete the treatment, the date of acceptance is used.

Reporting Year:

The financial year which the activity/contracted services relate to.

Country Name:

This is the Country name where the contract is located.

Commissioner Code:

This is the 3-character code associated with the Commissioning Organisation. This a generic term used to denote health bodies, either Area Teams in England or Health Boards in Wales. Also known as Primary Care Organisations (PCOs)

Total FP17s:

This is a count of the number of FP17s scheduled including adjustments for amended and deleted FP17s. Withdrawn FP17s are not included in the total count of FP17s. This figure may be zero or negative if deleted FP17s have been processed.

FP17s with Domiciliary Services:

This is a count of the number of forms submitted which included domiciliary services. This is based on the Treatment Category as recorded in part 6 of the FP17. Domiciliary dental care is dental treatment that is provided in the patient’s home. Patients who have severe mobility problems that make it very difficult for them to leave their home for treatment would benefit from domiciliary dental care where a dentist visits their home and provides dental treatment.

Domiciliary Services rate per 100 FP17s:

FP17s with Domiciliary Services / Total FP17s*100 .

Performance Target:

The target associated with the service line for the financial year e.g. UDAs, UOAs, CoTs etc., as entered on CoMPASS.
