Dataset Description
The Community Pharmacy Childhood Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Pilot Report - Pharmacy Contractors contains information on the number of flu vaccines administered by pharmacy contractors under the Childhood Influenza Vaccination Pilot advanced service.
Seasonal influenza is a key factor in NHS resilience. It impacts on those who become ill, the NHS services that provide direct care as a result, and on the wider health and social care system. The annual immunisation programme helps to reduce unplanned hospital admissions and pressures on A&E. To improve access to NHS seasonal influenza vaccinations for children, the advanced service pilot for community pharmacies to provide childhood influenza vaccinations was launched in October 2025.
This report provides the latest available data relating to the current flu season and includes:
- data relating to England
- NHS Region
- NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)
- pharmacy details
- vaccine name
- AMPP SNOMED code
- BNF Presentation code
- manufacturer
- quantity
- drug costs
- fee costs
The overall flu vaccination season — covering all eligible groups — runs from September to March, which includes adults and other at-risk groups.
This dataset is intended for the general public, including individuals and organisations interested in public spending, healthcare service delivery, and the role of community pharmacies in supporting the NHS response to seasonal childhood influenza.
Note on the Community Pharmacy Adult Seasonal Flu Vaccination Service
For broader context on community pharmacy involvement in national flu vaccination, a separate Community Pharmacy Adult Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Service also operates alongside the childhood service. While reported independently, both services contribute to NHS efforts to reduce flu transmission and protect vulnerable groups.
An existing publication on the ODP provides data on the Community Pharmacy Adult Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Service:

Dataset Details
Data Source
Data Collection
Data about Seasonal Childhood Influenza vaccination pilot events originates from ‘point of care’ system terminals in sites operated by Community Pharmacies. This data is sent to NHSBSA’s Manage Your Service (MYS) system where it can form the basis of a monthly claim for payment for the pilot as set out in the applicable service specification. NHSBSA does not alter the data other than to determine the drug cost and fee cost.
Time Periods
Publication Frequency: The dataset is updated monthly.
Monthly data releases will cover the period from October 2025 up to the latest available month. Each release will include data on activity for the most recent month, as well as the cumulative ‘season to date’ activity for the current reporting period.
Geography
England.
Data is broken down to the level of each Community pharmacy. The NHS England Region and NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) are included to enable aggregation to larger areas.

Caveats
Information:
Scope of Data
This dataset only relates to product costs and fees for Community Pharmacies – it does not include vaccines supplied by other organisations such as GP practices, mass vaccination centres or by NHS Trusts.
This data is based on the monthly claims submitted by contractors as processed by the NHSBSA, it does not include any post-payment adjustments that may have been made after the initial claims were processed.
Information:
Timings for Claim Submission
Childhood Flu vaccination claims are subject to a 3-month grace period during which claims can be made. This means that the data for any dispensing month can change up to 2 months after the first claims for that month have been processed.
Information:
Pharmacy Locations
Pharmacies may have administered vaccinations at several sites over different periods of time. Some pharmacy sites may be located in different Regions or Integrated Care Boards than the one to which their pharmacy account is linked. This data is presented according to the NHS administrative hierarchy and therefore may not represent the location of the activity.
Information:
Eligible Childhood Age Groups
Includes only children who were 2 or 3 years old on 31 August 2025. Children who had turned 4 by this date are excluded.
Information:
Reimbursement Cost
Reimbursement is not applicable for vaccinations where the product has been centrally supplied in which case the DRUG_COST columns will show zero.
