I would like the number of prescriptions issued for Wegovy (Semaglutide) and Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) broken down by local authority.

Under Section 21 of the FOIA, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you.

The information you are seeking is available through the English Prescribing Dataset (EPD), which can be accessed on our Open Data Portal here:

Please note the following:

Data is currently available monthly from January to July 2025. We do not yet have access to August or September data.

To identify prescriptions for these medicines:

Filter the BNF_CHEMICAL_SUBSTANCE column for Semaglutide or Tirzepatide.

If you only require Wegovy or Mounjaro (and not other presentations of these substances), filter the BNF_PRESENTATION_NAME column for those specific brand names.

The dataset does not include a Local Authority breakdown. Instead, it provides prescribing data by Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Sub-ICB (SICBL). These fields are available in the dataset under ICB_NAME and PCO_NAME.

Alternatively, you can filter by postcode if that better suits your needs.
