I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I am requesting information held by foirequests@nhsbsa.nhs.uk regarding the hospital use of fomepizole (also marketed as Antizol) for each financial year from 2010/11 to 2024/25 (or the most recent year for which data is available):

1. The total number of units of fomepizole dispensed, issued, or purchased by NHS hospital trusts, including: - Total quantity (in vials or ampoules) - Total cost (if held)

2. If available and within cost limits, a breakdown of the above information by individual NHS trust

Please note I am seeking aggregate usage statistics rather than commercial details such as supplier information or detailed procurement costs.

I understand that secondary care medicines data may only be available for more recent years, and would be grateful to receive whatever data is held by foirequests@nhsbsa.nhs.uk, even if this covers a shorter time period than requested.

If providing a trust-level breakdown would cause this request to exceed the appropriate cost limit under Section 12 of the Act, I would prioritise receiving the aggregate totals per financial year.

If the full timeframe would be burdensome to process, I would be happy to receive data for the most recent years first, with earlier years provided subsequently if possible.

If possible, please provide this information in a reusable electronic format such as CSV or Excel.

I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHSBSA.

The NHSBSA does not hold data on the dispensing, issuing, or purchasing of medicines by NHS hospital trusts. We only hold data relating to community pharmacy dispensing.

Although we host the Secondary Care Medicines Data set on behalf of NHS England, we do not receive or hold any information beyond what is publicly available on our website https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/secondary-care-medicines-data.
